NEW DELHI: Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 2 witnessed an exciting day of action on Sunday, with the table-toppers Majhi Mumbai securing their spot in Qualifier 1 against Falcon Risers Hyderabad.
Mumbai defeated Chennai Singams by 24 runs, dashing the latter's hopes of reaching the play-offs.
In the first match, Mumbai posted a formidable total of 122/3 in their 10 overs, thanks to an unbeaten half-century from opener Mohammed Nadeem (50 off 28 balls) and Rajat Mundhe's blistering 38 off 20 deliveries. Chennai's chase fell short at 98/6, despite Sumeet Dhekale's valiant 45 not out.
The second match saw Falcon Risers Hyderabad defeat Srinagar Ke Veer by 13 runs. Hyderabad posted 77/7, with Aakash Jangid's 31 off 24 balls being the top score. Suvronil Roy (4/8) and Sahil Longale (2/13) were the pick of the bowlers for Srinagar.
In reply, Srinagar could only manage 64/7, as Vishwajit Thakur (3/14) and Irfan Umair (3/13) restricted their batters.
Chennai's defeat confirmed KVN Bangalore Strikers as the fourth team in the play-offs, alongside Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Srinagar. In the play-offs starting Wednesday, Mumbai will face Hyderabad in Qualifier 1, while Bangalore will take on Srinagar in the Eliminator.
The day's proceedings were made even more memorable by Nikhita Gandhi's captivating performance, which enthralled the weekend crowd with her mesmerizing voice and high-energy act.
On Monday, defending champions Tiigers of Kolkata will aim to end their season on a high when they face KVN Bangalore Strikers in their final league match.
