The Pakistan Cricket Board has retained Farhan Yousaf as captain for the Pakistan U19 team's upcoming tri-series in Zimbabwe and ICC U19 World Cup, announcing a 15-member squad. The tri-series with Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will serve as preparation for the World Cup, with both tournaments following the 50-over format.
The tri-series will run from December 25 to January 6, while the ICC U19 World Cup is scheduled for January 16 to February 6 across Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Pakistan U19 is currently competing in the ACC U19 Asia Cup in Dubai, where they will face Bangladesh in the semi-final on Friday after finishing second in Group A. The tournament's final is set for Sunday.
The squad sees one change from the Asia Cup lineup, with right-arm fast bowler Umar Zaib replacing left-arm spinner Mohammad Huzaifa for both upcoming tournaments.
Right-arm pacer Ali Raza, who impressed in the 2024 tournament at age 15, returns to the squad. His notable performance included taking 4 for 34 against Australia in the semi-final and claiming nine wickets in three games.
The 15-member squad includes Farhan Yousaf as captain, Usman Khan as vice-captain, along with Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Hussain, Ali Hasan Baloch, Ali Raza, Daniyal Ali Khan, Hamza Zahoor, Huzaifa Ahsan, Momin Qamar, Mohammad Sayyam, Mohammad Shayan, Niqab Shafiq, Sameer Minhas and Umar Zaib.
The PCB has also named Abdul Qadir, Farhanullah, Hassan Khan, Ibtisam Azhar, and Mohammad Huzaifa as non-traveling reserves.
