CHENNAI: Chris Gayle has played many memorable knocks in the T20 format of the game. But the one knock that people remember him for was the unbeaten 175 he scored for

Royal Challengers Bangalore

against the Sahara Pune Warriors during the 2013 season.

Gayle, who likes to call himself the Universe Boss, was in a jovial mood as he reminisced that iconic knock.

“I remember after the first couple of overs the rain interrupted. When I went inside --- I told Ravi Rampaul who was part of the RCB team – that we need 170 to 180 to give ourselves a chance. Eventually after the rain interruption --- I was in that flow. There are days when as a batsman you can’t do anything wrong and it happened to me that day. It’s like everything stopped that day because the Universe Boss was on fire. You can’t miss that,”said Gayle told Mayank Agarwal during the show ‘Open Nets with Mayank’ that was uploaded on IPL’s official website.

Gayle scored a monstrous 66-ball 175 that ultimately helped RCB win by 130 runs.

Gayle believes he is hungry as ever to repeat that feat in the upcoming season of the IPL. “I still have a 175 left in me,” said Gayle, who is currently part of the

Kings XI Punjab

line-up.

The ongoing covid-19 pandemic may have forced Gayle to stay at home but he isn’t complaining at all. “I have been missing cricket as a whole to be honest. This is the longest I have ever been home. Normally I would be playing for a franchise somewhere. But that’s life and you have to accept it. Life goes on and can’t complain too much,” he said.
