Hemalatha shines in Yellow Challengers win

CHENNAI: D Hemalatha hit an unbeaten 121 to help Yellow Challengers score an 81-run win over Silver Strikers in their TNCA Indian Bank T20 clash on Thursday.
Batting first, Hemalatha’s 69-ball blitz - that was studded with 12 fours and 2 sixes - helped the side make 172 for 4 in their quota of 20 overs. In reply, Strikers never were in the game and could only manage to score 91 for 5 despite an unbeaten innings of 42 by S Pavithra. Her innings contained two boundaries and came off 50 deliveries. For the winning side, Ramyashri shone with figures of 2 for 8.
In another match, White Warriors defeated Red Rangers by 27 runs. Taking first strike, Warriors made 108 for 6. P Thejashree was the standout performer for her side, scoring an unbeaten 50.
Rangers, in reply, fared worse and ended on 81 for 6. Nethra topped the batting charts with a gritty knock of 38 for Rangers. For the winners, Anusha (2 for 7) and Ashwathi (2 for 14) had a ball.
In what was a keenly-contested clash, Blue Avengers edged past Green Invaders by 3 runs. The low scoring encounter first saw Blue Avengers score 108 for 3 with a handy contribution from P Anusha who made an unbeaten 32.
In response, Green Invaders finished agonizingly close to the target. Eloksi Arun (32) and Niranjana (26) played their parts but couldn’t take their team past the finish line. Leg spinner Yogiyasri (2 for 19) did the star turn for the winning team.
