CAPE TOWN: The visit of the
World XI team
next month may well become a gate way for the return of international crick et to Pakistan in the days to come. South Africa's
Hashim Amla, who has been named in the XI, said he is fine with the security assurance given for the match.
"I am looking forward to it. I have been to Pakistan 10 years ago. We had a few people from
Cricket South Africa
(
CSA
) who asked us if we were interested. We said we would consider it only after the recommendation of our board and the
ICC
. Once the security clearance was given, we went ahead," Amla said during a brief chat here on Saturday.
Amla said that his focus, however, was on T20 Global league which will begin in November. He said that is was best thing to be happening in South Africa, a sort of celebration for his country, which has not seen cricket event on such a mass scale before.
"It is a big deal to have a league of our own. We have seen other leagues grow and we took part in them in the last five to 10 years. This is CSA's own league. It will be a great challenge to be a part of it," Amla said, and added that the league would enable his country to unearth more talent.
When asked to name the best T20 bowler in the world, Amla promptly said: "
Imran Tahir". He then said that
AB de Villiers (batting) and
Chris Morris (all-rounder) are the other two top performers in the shortest formats of the game.
"Thankfully, I have played Tahir in domestic cricket and not international cricket. He has a lot of variations. He is one of the bowlers who always looks to take wickets. You don't have too many spinners in the world who bowl at the back-end of the innings. You will see fast bowlers who bowl bouncers and yorkers but you don't see spinners who bowl at the end of the innings. His variations makes him special," he said.
