India's women Twenty-20 International captain Harmanpreet Kaur made her debut for Lancashire Thunder a memorable one as she smacked a six off the penultimate ball to help Lancashire beat Surrey Stars by five wickets in the Kia Super League at The Oval.

NEW DELHI: India's women Twenty-20 International captain Harmanpreet Kaur made her debut for Lancashire Thunder a memorable one as she smacked a six off the penultimate ball to help Lancashire beat Surrey Stars by five wickets in the Kia Super League at The Oval.
Needing 10 off the final four balls, Harmanpreet, after taking two in the third, hit Alexandra Marsh for a boundary in the fourth ball and held her nerves to smash a maximum over the mid-wicket to seal the match.

She remained unbeaten on 34, which came off 21 balls with the help of three fours and a six, as Lancashire chased down the 149-run target with a ball to spare for their third successive win in the league.

Australian left-hander Nicole Bolton top-scored for Lancashire with a 61-ball 87, which included 13 boundaries. While for Surrey, captain Nat Sciver (2/26), Dane van Niekerk (1/18) and Sophia Dunkley (1/9) were among wickets.
Earlier, Sciver scored an unbeaten 95 off 57 balls, with the help of two sixes and nine fours, to help Surrey post 148/5 batting first.
From 17/3 in 3.3 overs, Sciver led the fightback along with van Niekerk, who scored 29 from 36 balls, as Surrey reached a competitive total in the end. For Lancashire, Emma Lamb (3/34) and Kate Cross (1/20) gave their team a perfect start by removing top-three wickets in quick time.
