MUMBAI: Former India pacer
Karsan Ghavri on Wednesday quit as a member of the
Mumbai Cricket Association
's Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC).
In an e-mail (a copy is with TOI) to MCA CEO CS Naik, Ghavri said: "This is to inform you & the MCA management that from now on, I will not be a part of the CIC any more. I am resigning from the post totally due to personal reasons. Please accept my resignation from immediate effect. My best wishes to the MCA. Thanking you, yours sincerely."
Ghavri had on Tuesday slammed the manner in which
Sulakshan Kulkarni
, who had been picked as the Mumbai coach by the CIC, had been treated by the MCA's ad-hoc committee.
Upset that the ad-hoc committee had "overruled" a "cricketing decision" which had "already been made by the CIC," Ghavri had indicated to the media that he would resign from the panel, which is headed by former India skipper
Dilip Vengsarkar, soon. Ghavri had termed the ad-hoc committee's decision as an "insult to not just the CIC, but to the coaches and support staff too."
The CIC now only has Vengsarkar and
Kiran Mokashi.
