Choosing to bat first after winning the toss, India Pistons’ opening stand yielded 48 runs in 18.5 overs between GV Vignesh (18, 3x4) and Jiwanjot Singh (30, 4x4) before Vijay Shankar and Rahil Shah struck. The Vijay CC duo reduced India Pistons to 58 for 3 before they began to rebuild. The fourth wicket stand between Ganga Sridhar and G Chandrasekar (88 batting, 4x4, 2x6) yielded 174 runs off 304 deliveries that took the team’s total past the 200-run mark.

While Ganga Sridhar was dismissed, caught by Indrajith off Rahil, Chandrasekar continued to march on. In the company of A Venkatesh, he added 25 in an unfinished fifth wicket partnership.

For Vijay CC, Rahil (3-78) led the way with the ball. Vijay Shankar (1-21) was the only other bowler to taste success on Day 1.

In the other semifinal, Jolly Rovers were placed at 229 for 7 against Alwarpet CC at the SSN College Grounds. Opener Kaushik Gandhi (72, 11x4) was the leading scorer while there were handy contributions with the willow from R Sathish (37, 4x4, 1x6) and 31 each from Anirudh Sita Ram and Syed Mohammed. For Alwarpet CC, Abhishek Tanwar (2-46), B Rahul (2-42) and Tarun Srinivas (2-12) led the way with the ball.
