Dulip Samaraweera has been handed a 10-year ban by Cricket Australia's Conduct Commission following a finding of serious misconduct. This latest sanction relates to a breach of section 2.23 of CA's Code of Conduct stemming from allegations of inappropriate behavior.

The incidents in question occurred during Samaraweera's tenure with Cricket Victoria but are linked to private coaching sessions he conducted outside of his official role. Notably, this 10-year ban will run concurrently with a previous 20-year ban imposed on Samaraweera last month for a separate serious breach of the Code of Conduct.

Despite denying the allegations, Samaraweera chose not to participate in either the investigation process or the subsequent Conduct Commission hearing. The CA Integrity Department plays a crucial role in investigating complaints under its Integrity Codes and Policies, which extend their jurisdiction to State and Territory Associations.

When matters require resolution, CA Integrity refers them to the Conduct Commission. Both Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria have reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a safe environment for all individuals involved in the sport.

"We strongly encourage the reporting of inappropriate behaviours," CA stated, noting that such reports can be made directly to the CA Integrity Unit or through the Core Integrity Hotline.

The welfare of those subjected to mistreatment remains a top priority for both organizations. Section 2.23 of the Code of Conduct addresses behaviors that: (a) contravene the Spirit of Cricket; (b) are unbecoming of a representative or official; (c) have the potential to harm the interests of cricket; or (d) could bring the game of cricket into disrepute.
