MYSURU: Former Australian legend cricketer Dean Jones who died of heart attack on Thursday was fond of

Mysore Pak

, a sweet cake, and had carried a dozen boxes of sweets to Australia three years ago.


The cricketer had visited popular food joints and sweet shops in Mysuru during

Karnataka Premier League

(KPL), a T20 cricket league, in 2017 and had videoed the process of making it.



Recalling the cricketer’s visit, Anish Gupta, proprietor of

Bombay Tiffanys Annexe

, D Devaraja Urs road, told TOI that Dean Jones had paid a visit to their shop and factory to understand the process of making popular “Mysore Pak,” a sweet dish of our very own Mysuru.



Jones had spent about an hour at their shop and had videoed the process of making the sweet. It was also screened during the KPL matches in Mysuru three years ago, he said.



Jones was fond of Mysore Pak and he liked the taste of the sweet greatly. He took over a dozen boxes of Mysore Pak to Australia to distribute among his family members and friends, Anish stated.



Mysore Pak is made using gram flour, sugar and ghee.
