NAGPUR: Danish Malewar, India's highest run-getter in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy which Vidarbha won, and Rohit Binkar have been included in Vidarbha’s U-25 squad for the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Odisha in Nagpur from January 8-11.
TOI had, on Thursday, reported that key performers in Cooch Behar Trophy are likely to be promoted to the Under-25 team.
Malewar finished as the highest run-getter of the tournament with 1171 runs. He became the highest run-getter for Vidarbha in the marque under-19 event. Danish struck 4 centuries and 3 half-centuries with unbeaten 300 being his highest score. His half centuries in the final gave Vidarbha the edge.
Similarly, wicketkeeper Binkar was the second run-getter for Vidarbha in the Under-19 event. He proved his mettle by scoring an impressive 180 and 217 in back-to-back matches.
The duo replaced Sandesh Durgwar and Manish Ahuja. It was surprising to see Manish being sidelined without playing any matches while other players who have not played any matches continue to be in the squad.
