MUMBAI: There is some good news for hundreds of domestic cricketers, from the 89th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the BCCI at Ahmedabad, which was held on Thursday.
According to sources, the BCCI will design a compensation package for the domestic cricketers in case the
Ranji Trophy, or the
Vijay Hazare Trophy
is not held due to
Covid-19
, in what is already a severely curtailed domestic season. The Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy is scheduled to be held from January 10 to 31. "The idea to compensate the domestic cricketers adequately was mooted by BCCI secretary
Jay Shah," a reliable source told TOI on Thursday.
In another piece of good news for them, the Board has increased the insurance cover of the cricketers from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs.
