NEW DELHI: Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has made a fervent appeal to the state cricket association (KSCA) to honor three legendary cricketers from the state by naming stands after them at Bengaluru's iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In a letter addressed to KSCA President Raghuram Bhat A on Monday, CM Siddaramaiah urged for the stands to be named after GR Vishwanath, EAS Prasanna, and BS Chandrasekhar.

Expressing his sentiment, CM Siddaramaiah emphasized, "I request you to consider naming the stands after GR Vishwanath, EAS Prasanna, and BS Chandrasekhar, which will inspire and encourage the upcoming cricketers of the state."

Highlighting the absence of such tributes in Bengaluru's cricketing landscape, the CM pointed out that major cricket stadiums in other cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata have stands named after illustrious players hailing from those regions.

He underscored the need to rectify this oversight and honor the distinguished cricketers associated with Karnataka.

This initiative was prompted by a letter from renowned historian and author Ramachandra Guha on March 29, wherein Guha urged CM Siddaramaiah to advocate for the naming of stands at Chinnaswamy Stadium after the three cricketing icons.
