RAIPUR: The right-handed batter from Chhattisgarh, Sanjeet Desai, has become the only cricketer to finish in the top ten run-getters list in both the formats – one day and first-class – at the end of the Indian domestic cricket season 2022-23.
According to batting stats released by the BCCI, Sanjeet finished seventh in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy (First-class) with 695 runs and fifth in the Men's U-25 State A Trophy (One-day) with 350 runs.
He has scored 1045 runs, which included five centuries and four half-centuries, averaging 85 plus in both formats of the game. In the seven first-class matches, he accumulated 695 runs and in one-day he scored 350.
"It gives me immense pleasure to be the only player to achieve this feat. I was not in a good shape before the start of the season, but had the belief that I will make the opportunity count. Thanks to my coaches Umesh Patwal and
Raja Banerjee who helped me improve my performance and kept me positive throughout the season," said Desai.
