The Cricket Association of Bengal

(CAB) is taking all steps to keep its cricketers ready for action once the situation improves for the game to happen. After online sessions with the senior Bengal players and CAB batting consultant VVS Laxman, the association arranged a webinar for the women cricketers with Dr Reena Kaul, senior scientific officer (sport psychology),

Sports Authority of India

(SAI) on Saturday.

Kaul mainly focused on how to remain stress free, improve physical fitness and keep a positive mindset during this time of lockdown. Cricketers from women's U-23 and U-19 attended the session along with Bengal manager-cricket operations Joydeep Mukherjee, Women's U-19 coach Priyanka Roy, assistant coach Arpita Ghosh, trainer Manoshi Parui, physio Moulima Patra and selector Sujata Sinha.

"It was a very useful and interactive session," coach Roy said.

"It was a much-needed session to keep the players away from the stress and negative mindset at this hard time," CAB Apex Council member Gargi Banerjee said.

"While we had already started online training programmes to keep them fit physically, now we have engaged a senior sports psychologist to enable the players stay mentally fit as well," CAB president

Avishek Dalmiya

stated.

Kaul, who has been associated with SAI for over 25, was also happy with the session. "It's important to stay in touch with the players and coach as no play is possible now," she remarked.

Standing at this difficult time, her main advice to the players was to stay positive and confident about themselves.

The women players had an online session with former India wicket-keeper

Deep Dasgupta

earlier this week too.
