NEW DELHI: Reacting to the
BCCI’s three emails in which the Indian cricket board sought clarifications regarding the
IPL media rights tender which is due to be opened on Tuesday, the Justice
Lodha Committee has said that its members are in the process of implementing the
Supreme Court order by appointing an independent auditor before laying down the norms for the bidding process.
“It takes time for the committee members to meet and decide something. One member is in Bangalore while the other is in Chandigarh. Justice Lodha is in Delhi. The committee has lined up a few meetings on Monday and would address the emails sent by BCCI and find out ways to approach the IPL media rights,” a source in the committee told TOI on Monday.
Earlier, the panel had to call off a meeting on October 21 because there was no mandate from the Supreme Court. “Now that there is a mandate for the panel, there is no reason why the committee shouldn’t meet,” the source added without confirming that the panel would be meeting on Monday.
However, there were strong indications that this would indeed go ahead to provide some clarity to the BCCI regarding the IPL media rights bidding process, which is due to be
opened in Mumbai on Tuesday.
“As per the order, BCCI isn’t authorised to take a call on the bidding process. The board is also not empowered to cancel the process till the time there is no clarity from the panel,” a source said.
