The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced its first post-Covid awards in a glittering ceremony in Hyderabad on Tuesday, where international stars like Shubman Gill, Smriti Mandhana and Jasprit Bumrah were among several other top performers in the list of winners.

Because no awards had been given since the outbreak of Covid-19, the Indian cricket board honoured winners for the last four seasons in domestic and international cricket.

Shubman Gill crowned best international cricketer in BCCI Annual Awards ceremony

Star batter Gill was conferred with the Polly Umrigar award for Best Men's International Cricketer of the Year (2022-23). Last year, Gill scored 1584 runs from 29 matches at an average of 63.36 including five hundreds.

In a fitting acknowledgment of his illustrious career, former India cricketer Ravi Shastri and Farokh Engineer received the BCCI's lifetime achievement award. Engineer received the lifetime achievement award for the year 2019-2020.

Spinner Deepti Sharma grabbed the International Women's Cricketer of the Year award for the 2022-23 season. Deepti played a pivotal role in India's successful campaigns in the Women's Asia Cup and the Asian Games, excelling in T20I action.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal grabbed the award for the Best International debut during the 2022-23 season after cracking a 171 against the West Indies at Roseau in July last year.

Shastri was part of India's World Cup winning squad in 1983 and was the Player of the Series when they bagged the World Series in 1985. Later as a coach, Shastri masterminded India's back-to-back Test series wins in Australia, the first Asian side to achieve the feat.

India's vice-captain Smriti Mandhana was crowned as the Best International Cricketer in the women's category for the years 2020-21 and 2021-22 on Tuesday at the Naman Awards.
