NEW DELHI: Bangladesh faced severe difficulties, losing four wickets early while responding to South Africa's substantial first innings score of 575-6 on day two of the final Test in Chattogram. Play ended prematurely due to poor visibility with the score at 38-4.
The home team trails by 537 runs after South Africa's impressive batting display, which featured first Test centuries from three players, including Tony de Zorzi's 177.
Kagiso Rabada initiated Bangladesh's downfall, dismissing Shadman Islam for zero. Zakir Hasan soon followed, caught behind for two runs. Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 10 before being caught at second slip, while nightwatchman Hasan Mahmud fell to Keshav Maharaj's spin.
South Africa's innings total ranks as their second-highest against Bangladesh at this venue, following their 583-7 in 2008.

Wiaan Mulder (105 not out), de Zorzi, and Tristan Stubbs (106) all reached centuries on a batting-friendly surface.
Senuran Muthusamy remained unbeaten with 68 runs, while Ryan Rickelton was dismissed for 12.
Taijul Islam claimed three quick wickets in the morning session, including David Bedingham's dismissal for 59, breaking a 116-run partnership.
De Zorzi's innings, featuring four sixes and twelve fours, ended when Taijul trapped him lbw.
South Africa, having won the first Test with Rabada's 6-46 in the second innings, maintained control. Bangladesh's record in Chattogram shows only two wins from 24 Tests, with seven draws.
