CHENNAI: Baba Indrajith was included into the Tamil Nadu squad for the upcoming Ranji matches against Mumbai and Railways. Indrajith - who had missed the first half of the season as he was recuperating from a shoulder injury - had cleared the fitness tests conducted at the MA Chidambaram Stadium earlier this week but there seems to have been a miscommunication between the physio and team management.

"The selectors went ahead to name a squad without Indrajith since they didn't get a clearer picture of his fitness. But it was all cleared on Thursday and Indrajith has now been included. His presence will be very crucial in the team's middle-order," said a TNCA official.

It is learnt that Pradosh Ranjan Paul - who is part of the squad - could be released to play in the Tamil Nadu U-23 Col CK Nayudu clash against Delhi if he doesn't feature in the playing XI.

"The U-23 clash in Delhi is from January 13. We feel Pradosh, who has done well in the U-19 circuit this season, deserves a chance to now be part of the U-23 side," added the source.

TN will be taking on Mumbai from January 11 and their subsequent clash is against Railways from January 19. TN - which started the season by reaching the finals of Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 - haven't enjoyed the best of Ranji seasons.
