Australia dominated Sri Lanka comprehensively in both the Test matches at Galle, securing victories by an innings and 242 runs in the first Test, followed by a decisive nine-wicket win in the second match on Sunday.

The WTC final is scheduled to take place at Lord's from June 11.

"Australia's triumph in the Border-Gavaskar series against India helped them make their second consecutive World Test Championship final, and a 2-0 series win against Sri Lanka helped them solidify the No.2 position on the table," said ICC in a release.

Australia had beaten India 3-1 in the five-Test Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

India's journey in the competition came to an end after their loss in the BGT, placing them third with 50 percentage points, despite being contenders for a significant duration.

The Indian team, who reached the WTC finals twice, played 19 Tests during this cycle, winning nine matches, losing eight and drawing two.
