Vidarbha’s head coach for the upcoming season will be their former captain Usman Ghani, who has replaced Sanjeev
Sharma in that post.

Ranade was Mumbai’s senior team’s fielding coach during the last season, and had been offered the job of assistant coach of the Mumbai under-23 team by the Mumbai Cricket Association, which he didn’t accept.

In April, Ranade was appointed by the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy as NCA under-16 zonal academy coach at Cuttack.

Apart from Ranade, Amol Muzumdar (Baroda), Chandrakant Pandit (Madhya Pradesh), Sulakshan Kulkarni (Tamil Nadu) and Ramesh Powar (Gujarat) are the other former Mumbai players-turned-coaches who will be seen in action in the forthcoming domestic season.

Meanwhile, former First-Class pacer Sandeep Dahad, who played for Mumbai, Goa, Maharashtra and Tripura, and was Mumbai’s under-16 coach last season, has been appointed as the head coach of the Tripura women’s team.

Sarfaraz to train at NCA for Duleep Trophy

Snubbed for the West Indies tour too, Mumbai’s middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan will train at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru ahead of the Duleep Trophy, which begins in Bengaluru on June 28.

Sarfaraz has been picked to play for defending champions West Zone, who will play in the semifinal from July 5.

“Since the conditions of the grounds in Mumbai is not fit currently due to the monsoons, Sarfaraz requested if he could train at the NCA, and he was given the green signal for the same,” a source said.
