Ashwin bowls MRC 'A' to innings win

CHENNAI: R Ashwin starred with the ball - bagging match-figures of 8-70 - to help Mylapore Recreation Club (MRC) 'A' score an innings and 47-run win over CromBest in their TNCA first division league clash here on Thursday. After having declared their first innings at 422-5, MRC 'A' bowled out CromBest for a modest total of 246. R Ashwin was the wrecker-in-chief, returning with figures of 7 for 69.Following on, CromBest fared even worse as they were bowled out for 129 in 53.3 overs. Arpit Vasavada (4 for 13) and Yazh Arun Mozhi (4 for 48) led the show with the ball while R Ashwin took 1 for 1.
In a high-scoring encounter, Alwarpet took the first innings lead against Jolly Rovers. B Aparajith's unbeaten 208 helped Jolly Rovers score 418 in their opening essay. In reply, Alwarpet made 420-9 thanks to No. 6 U Mukilesh's unbeaten 150 that contained 22 fours and 2 sixes. The ninth wicket stand between Mukilesh and M Siddharth (51) yielded 115 runs from 20.3 overs that helped Alwarpet overhaul Jolly Rovers' first innings total.
