KOLKATA: A local court on Monday issued an arrest warrant against Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami and his brother Hasib Ahmed in connection with a domestic violence case filed by Shami's estranged wife Hasin Jahan.

court, however, has kept the order in abeyance for the next 15 days in which the pacer can either comply or choose to challenge the same in a higher court. His brother, however, will not enjoy the breather.

Shami's lawyer Salim Rehman said that it was a warrant that was more procedural in nature. He was asked by police to show up before investigators, which he did under CrPC 41A. All this while, he has not been asked by court for an appearance. The applicant (Hasin) has not challenged the court findings, where cops had expunged rape and attempt to murder charges earlier," he said.

though claimed both the brothers had failed to turn up in court even once. However, the police had dropped the more serious charges that were registered in the FIR, including sections 307 (attempt to murder), and 376 (punishment for rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) besides criminal intimidation.
