After captain Litton Das raises questions, Bangladesh bring back Shamim Hossain for T20I decider vs Ireland

Bangladesh has added Shamim Hossain to their squad for the third and final T20I against Ireland at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday, following criticism from captain Litton Das over the player's initial exclusion from the team.

The 25-year-old all-rounder's inclusion comes after Das expressed displeasure about the selection process, stating that neither he nor coach Phil Simmons were informed about Shamim's omission from the squad.



Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain had previously announced Shamim's removal from the squad last Friday, explaining they wanted to give Mahidul Islam Ankon an opportunity in the middle order.

Shamim's recent T20I performance has been struggling, with scores of 0, 0, 1, and 1 in his last four international matches. However, his overall T20I career statistics show 579 runs in 46 matches at an average of 18.67.

In the Bangladesh Premier League, Shamim has accumulated 880 runs across 51 matches with five half-centuries. His ODI record shows 67 runs in seven matches.

The ongoing T20I series between Bangladesh and Ireland stands level at 1-1. Ireland claimed victory in the first match when Bangladesh failed to chase down 182 runs. The hosts equalized in the second game with a four-wicket win, successfully chasing 171 runs in 19.4 overs.

Bangladesh squad for the third T20I includes Litton Das as captain and wicketkeeper, with Saif Hassan as vice-captain. Other team members are Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Shamim Hossain.
