Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead a 16-member young Bengal side which will take part in a Global T20 tournament in Namibia in September. The tournament is likely to be a four-team affair with a representative of Pakistan's Lahore Qalandars side, a South African domestic side and a Namibia XI to take part.
The Bengal selectors have included a number of regulars in the side namely Shahbaz Ahmed, Ishan Porel, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep,
Writtick Chatterjee along with naming some fresh faces too.
With the BCCI announcing a full domestic season this time, this tournament is expected to serve as a good pre-season practice before the start of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 meet. It will also be a good opportunity for the Bengal selectors to see how some of the youngsters fare against quality opposition and handle different conditions.
However, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) are yet to announce the name of the new coach after former India opener Arun Lal stepped down at the conclusion of the last domestic season where Bengal went without a trophy.
It will also be a chance for Namibia to finetune their preparations for the T20 World Cup, to be held in Australia in October-November.
