(CAB) first division One-day tournament. In the final on Tuesday, Mohun Bagan defeated

Bhowanipur Club

by six wickets at JU salt lake second campus ground.

Bhowanipur put up 288 for 8 after electing to bat first on winning the toss. Bagan lost opener Vivek Singh in the first ball of their innings as the left-hander fell to Bhowanipur and Bengal pacer Mukesh Kuma. But Easwaran showed grit and skill to stitch off two big partnerships with experienced campaigners Sudip Chatterjee and Anustup Majumder to take the side home.

Easwaran ensured victory by staying there till the end remaining unbeaten on 167 which came off 144 balls with the help of 15 boundaries and two huge sixes. Left-hander Sudip hit 40 while Anustup smashed 62 off just 67 balls.

Easwaran was involved in a 99 and 151-run partnerships with Sudip and Anustup respectively that took the match away from Bhowanipur.

Earlier Bhowanipur got off to a solid start thanks to their openers Abhisek Das and Abhshek Raman who added 104 runs off the opening wicket. Spinner Writtick Chatterjee got the breakthrough sending Raman back on 52.

Abhisek scored 100 off 101 deliveries before being caught by Ayan Bhattacharya off Jesal Kharia.
