MUMBAI: While infighting, which led to legal wrangles, has seen Bihar not play in the Ranji Trophy since the 2003-04 season, cricketing action is set to return to the state after a long, long time.
TOI has learnt that Bihar would host its first BCCI-recognised game since 1997, when Jharkhand plays a combined team from the Northeast at Patna's Moin-ul-Haq stadium from December 5-8 in a Cooch Behar Trophy match.

The last game held in the state under the aegis of the BCCI was a Ranji match between Bihar and Baroda 19 years back. In fact, this will be the first Cooch Behar match in Bihar since 1974.
The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) secretary Mrityunjay Tiwary is now hopeful that Bihar will get to play in the Ranji Trophy next season.
