18-year-old spinner AM Ghazanfar's impressive 5-33 propelled Afghanistan's win.

Zimbabwe, after being asked to bat first, were bowled out for a meager 127 runs in 30.1 overs. Ghazanfar and Rashid Khan (3-38) spearheaded the Afghan bowling attack. Sean Williams was the top scorer for Zimbabwe with 60 runs.

Zimbabwe's 127 all out showed slight improvement over their dismal 54 in the second ODI. However, it proved insufficient against the Afghan batsmen.

Afghanistan comfortably chased down the target in 26.5 overs, losing only two wickets at the Harare Sports Club.

Opener Sediqullah Atal continued his fine form with a 52-run knock off 50 balls. He had scored 104 in the previous match.

The two teams will now face each other in a two-match Test series. The series commences on Thursday.

This upcoming series includes a Boxing Day Test match for Zimbabwe. It marks their first home Boxing Day Test since a draw with England in 1996. This is also only the fourth Boxing Day Test match ever hosted by Zimbabwe.
