The final also presented Kohli with another potential milestone within reach. Having already accumulated 614 runs in the 2025 season, he stood 86 runs away from becoming the first player to score 700 runs in an IPL season three times.
Kohli's previous 700+ run seasons include his record-breaking 973 runs in IPL 2016 and 741 runs in IPL 2024. This achievement would surpass Chris Gayle's record, who achieved 700+ runs in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013.
