NEW DELHI: Pacer Tushar Deshpande raked in big bucks at the IPL Auction on Monday after Rajasthan Royals bought his services for a jaw-dropping Rs 6.50 crore.
The Mumbai-born pacer, who was with Chennai Super Kings for the last three season was snatched by the Royals after a bidding war on the second day of the auction in Jeddah.
Tushar came into the auction at a base price of Rs 1 crore and CSK and Royals were were in a two-way battle for the 29-year-old where the latter eventually outbid Chennai.
With the buy, Royals strengthened their pace bowling attack as war-horse Tushar has been known to bowl important overs at the start and in the death.
CSK, had invested heavily in Tushar over the last three years and the pacer gave them terrific results, bowling crucial overs with the new and old ball.
In the 36 matches Tushar has played in the IPL, he has 42 wickets to his name at an economy of 9.65.
Before joining CSK in 2022, Tushar was with Delhi Capitals and was also part of the Mumbai Indians set-up between 2016-2020.
Tushar has been known for his fiery pace, control and the knack for taking wickets at any given situation in the game.
With Royals previously releasing the likes of Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Sen and Navdeep Saini, Tushar comes as a very good addition for the franchise.
Tushar made his India debut in T20Is at the age of 29 and has played 2 matches so far for the country.
