BENGALURU: Rising Pune Supergiant batsman
Manoj Tiwary said that calling
Shane Watson's 'bluff ' helped him produce a late flourish to take his team past the 160-run mark, when it looked difficult at one stage.
Tiwary, who walked in at No.7, scored a 11-ball 27 that eventually proved the difference in the win against
Royal Challengers Bangalore
on Sunday.
"I was trying to read the mind of the bowler," he said, referring to Watson. "I was observing him from the dugout when he bowled to MS
Dhoni.
"He set a field but bowled differently... he was bluffing in a way. That paid off for him when he got Dhoni out.
"I knew he would do something similar to me," the 31-year-old Bengal batsman said.
"After he bowled a bouncer to me that was called wide, I knew he wouldn't do it again," he said, referring to the third ball of the 19th over of the innings, bowled by the Australian.
"He missed his execution after that and I went for it," said Tiwary, who smashed three fours and a six as Watson began pitching the ball up.
"I'm happy to have contributed in that last phase."
