'Somtime win, sometime learn and ... ': Arshdeep Singh's hilarious social media post goes viral
NEW DELHI: Punjab Kings' pacer Arshdeep Singh grabbed headlines beyond the boundary after their tense 10-run victory over Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. But it wasn’t just his on-field performance that had fans talking, it was his witty Instagram post that quickly went viral.
Posing alongside Orange Cap holder Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep captioned the photo: "Sometime win, sometime learn and win."
A playful twist on the famous motivational quote, the caption sparked speculation and laughs online, with fans interpreting it as a light-hearted jab at Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who’s known for his “win or learn” philosophy in post-match interviews.
The timing of the post was perfect. Arshdeep may have been expensive early on, conceding heavily as Jaiswal and young Vaibhav Suryavanshi tore into the PBKS bowling, but it was spinner Harpreet Brar who turned the tide.
Brar’s spell of 3/22 in four overs, including the key wickets of Jaiswal and Suryavanshi, helped derail RR’s explosive start.
Earlier in the game, it was Nehal Wadhera (70 off 37) and Shashank Singh (59 not out off 30) who lit up the innings for PBKS, taking them to a challenging total of 219/5. With this win, PBKS moved to 17 points, edging closer to their first playoff qualification since 2014.
The win was crucial, but Arshdeep’s cheeky post brought smiles to fans across platforms, injecting some off-field flavour into the season.
Social media flooded with reactions, with many drawing comparisons to Rizwan’s approach and calling Arshdeep’s post a classic “desi-style” cricket meme moment.
Whether it was just banter or subtle shade, Arshdeep reminded fans that in cricket, as in life, sometimes you win, and sometimes, you win with style.
