NEW DELHI: The newly christened
Punjab Kings
, the formerly Kings XI Punjab, had the biggest purse going into the 2021
IPL player auction with Rs 53.20 crore and they used them to their advantage to fill in their available nine slots.
Punjab shelled out a whopping Rs 22 crore to buy two pacers -- Australia's Jhye Richardson - Rs 14 crore, and Riley Meredith (Rs 8 crore).
They paid uncapped Indian all-rounder Shahrukh Khan Rs 5.25 crore, while spending Rs 4.2 crore for the services of
Moises Henriques.
Other players bought in the auction are: Saurabh Kumar, Fabian Allen, Utkarsh Singh, Jalaj Saxena, Dawid Malan.
