KOLKATA: Like all others, nine Bengal players will also have their fingers crossed when a total pool of 351 players will go under the hammers in the IPL player's auction in Bengaluru on Monday.
Three Bengal players -
Wriddhiman Saha,
Ashok Dinda and Mohammad Shami have been retained by their respective IPL franchise sides. Hence while Saha will do duties for Kings XI Punjab, pacers Dinda will be seen in action for Rising Pune Supergiants and Shami for Delhi Daredevils.
All the other Bengal players in the pool will be looking for new teams after not being picked by any sides in the last auction.
Among the nine players, Bengal skipper
Manoj Tiwary has the highest base price of 50 lakh. The middle-order batsman who had represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils previously, will hope to be looked favourably this time after a decent show in domestic season so far.
Former India left-arm spinner
Pragyan Ojha too will look to get a career boost if picked by any franchise after a not so memorable domestic performance. He has kept his base price at Rs 30 lakh.
Al the other players have been clubbed in the Rs 10 lakh bracket whch includes Sreevats Goswami, Pramod Chandila, Aamir Goni, Sayan Ghosh, Kanishk Seth, Veer Pratap Singh and Writtick Chatterjee.
Among them wicketkeeper-batsman Goswami has represented multiple teams in the IPL representing the KKR, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. VP Singh has also played for local franchise KKR.
It will be a big break for others like youngsters Aamir Goni and Kanishk Seth, who played an important part in helping Bengal win the Cooch Behar Trophy (U-19) after 19 years this time.
