NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians on Thursday made an announcement regarding the signing of Saurashtra wicketkeeper-batter Harvik Desai as a replacement for Vishnu Vinod, who was sidelined from the ongoing IPL due to a forearm injury.

This marks the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter's inaugural stint in the IPL. Desai boasts experience from 27 T20s, 40 List A, and 46 First-Class games for Saurashtra.

"Mumbai Indians announce that Harvik Desai will join the squad as a replacement for Vishnu Vinod," an IPL media release stated.

The 30-year-old Vishnu, who represents Kerala in domestic cricket, sustained an injury in his left forearm.

Currently, Mumbai Indians occupy the eighth position in the points table.
