Having batted mostly at No.4 this season, Rahul’s elevation to opener is seen as a key strategic shift by the Axar Patel-led side, who are pushing for a playoff spot.
Rahul needed just 33 runs before the game to surpass Kohli’s record and wasted no time stamping his authority in the powerplay.
