Delhi Capitals' season in the 2025 IPL did not go as planned. After an impressive start to the campaign, the Axar Patel-led side faltered towards the end of the league stage, and missed out on the playoffs. However, as the league stage comes to a close, DC mentor and former Delhi and Royal Challengers Bangalore player Kevin Pietersen's tweet manages to salvage something from the Delhi-based franchise’s disappointing season.
A recent tweet by the 44-year-old has been making rounds on social media, where he admits that something strange has happened to him. Recounting his journey with the team, Pietersen said that being part of DC's dressing room has 'ignited a flame' inside him.

KL Rahul in particular, took center stage on several occasions, with his century against Gujarat Titans and three half-tons in the tournament. Despite his heroics, DC failed to breach the top four, and missed out on a playoff spot by one point as they ended the season in fifth.
Pietersen's message on X is an allusion to the side's batting prowess, as he admits wanting to take up the bat again. "Being inside the dressing room with Delhi this IPL, it has actually ignited a flame in me to bat again. A childhood feeling - really strange."
Pietersen, announced as DC mentor in February, was trusted with taking a promising DC side to the playoffs and possibly, the title. However, the fact that DC had one of the best starts to the season up until the defeat to Mumbai Indians which derailed their season, remains undismissable.
The 44-year-old has 1001 runs from 36 IPL matches and has donned the jerseys of Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Pune Warriors India during his IPL career.
