Just one game without Dhoni, not a sign of things to come: Fleming
GUWAHATI: Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming dismissed suggestions that Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s injury-enforced absence in the opening weeks of the IPL offers a glimpse into life after the talisman, insisting the veteran’s influence remains intact.

“It would be a game without him, but not a glimpse of life after MS Dhoni,” Fleming said at CSK’s first media interaction of the season. “He is still heavily involved with the side. We are managing and rehabilitating his injury, but his influence on the team is very strong.”
Fleming backed the depth of the squad to handle injuries in a demanding calendar.
“Every team is dealing with injuries. Modern cricket places huge physical demands on players, and it’s about managing workloads and rehabilitation. Marquee players are hard to replace, but there is enough talent, especially in India, to field strong teams,” he said.
After finishing bottom last season, Fleming is optimistic about a turnaround, citing a refreshed squad and renewed focus on Indian talent.
Brevis out of first two games
Chennai Super Kings will be without South African young gun Dewald Brevis for the game against Rajasthan Royals and the home game against Punjab Kings later in the week as he has suffered a side strain.
