IPL playoffs history: MI pip RCB, inch closer to CSK's record

Following their thumping 59-run win over Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians became the fourth and final team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs. The other three teams for the knockouts are Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings.

With the win, the Hardik Pandya-led team, the five-time champions, has now secured a spot in the playoffs an impressive 11 times.

Mumbai pipped Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have reached the final four ten times but are yet to win the elusive title.

Leading the pack with an unparalleled record of 12 playoff qualifications are the Chennai Super Kings. Three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad have made it to the playoffs eight and seven times, respectively.

IPL 2025 points table after MI vs DC

Gujarat Titans are on top of the IPL 2025 standings with 18 points, while Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings both have 17 points. These three teams had already secured a spot for the playoffs, and MI joined them on Wednesday.

Playoffs venue

After 70 action-packed league-stage matches filled with energy, drama, thrill, and entertainment, the spotlight will shift to the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh as it gears up to host the much-awaited Qualifier 1 — featuring the top-two ranked sides — on Thursday, May 29th, followed by an engrossing Eliminator clash on Friday, May 30th.



The excitement will elevate further as Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium, will host an electrifying Qualifier 2 and the grand Final. Qualifier 2, to be played between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator, will take place on Sunday, June 1st. The highly-anticipated summit clash, which will crown the winner of the 18th Season of TATA IPL, is set to be played on Tuesday, June 3rd.

Who's that IPL player?

Hyderabad and Kolkata were initially supposed to host the last four games before the one-week suspension of the tournament.

The new venues for the Playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters.
