LUCKNOW: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who have already qualified for the playoffs, will pursue victories against the two eliminated teams, SRH and LSG, in their remaining league games. First up are SRH on Friday.
RCB have been runners-up three times, in 2009, 2011, and 2016, and have qualified for the playoffs nine times but are yet to win their maiden IPL title. The SRH game is a good opportunity for them to secure a spot in the top two for the first time in nine years.

A day before the game, RCB’s head coach Andy Flower — formerly with Lucknow Super Giants — inspected the red soil pitch along with a local curator, while Virat Kohli was seen engaged in an intense nets session. Kohli, who just announced his Test retirement, is the fifth-highest run scorer this season, with seven fifties at a strike rate of 143.46.
Asked if the break would disrupt the team’s momentum, Flower said, “For a couple of our players, the break has been healthy. Rajat Patidar for one. It’s given his right hand a little bit of time to settle after getting quite a bad knock. So he is fit to bat.”
SRH have had a forgettable season and will now seek to disrupt RCB’s campaign.
