NEW DELHI: Punjab Kings continued their impressive run in IPL 2025 with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants, propelling them to the second spot on the points table. With two wins in as many matches, Punjab now have four points and a strong net run rate of +1.485, only behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who lead the standings with a superior NRR of +2.266.
The win against LSG was built on a stellar all-round performance. Arshdeep Singh's three-wicket burst restricted Lucknow to 171/7 before Prabhsimran Singh’s explosive 69 off 34 balls made light work of the chase.
With captain Shreyas Iyer (52*) and Nehal Wadhera (43*) finishing the job in just 16.2 overs, Punjab strengthened their position as one of the early frontrunners in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants are feeling the heat after their second loss in three games.
They now sit in sixth place with two points and a negative net run rate of -0.150. Rishabh Pant's side has struggled to find consistency, with their batting woes continuing as the captain himself has failed to fire.
Close behind, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals have also won both their matches and are level on points with RCB at 4 points each.
Punjab Kings, riding on strong performances from Prabhsimran Singh and Arshdeep Singh, hold the second spot with an NRR of +1.485, while Delhi Capitals follow closely at +1.320.
Gujarat Titans, with one win and one loss in two matches, are sitting at fourth place with 2 points and an NRR of +0.625.
Among teams that have played three matches, Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Kolkata Knight Riders all have just one win each and are separated only by Net Run Rate.
Mumbai Indians are slightly ahead with +0.309, while Lucknow Super Giants (-0.150), CSK (-0.771), and Sunrisers (-0.871) follow.
At the bottom of the table, Rajasthan Royals (-1.112) and Kolkata Knight Riders (-1.428) are struggling with poor NRRs despite having one win each.
