Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have retained six players ahead of the IPL mega auction later this year. The list includes Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, and uncapped players Ramandeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
Rinku Singh was KKR's top retention choice, with the franchise spending Rs. 13 crore on him. Narine, Russell, and Chakaravarthy were each retained for Rs. 12 crore. Harshit and Ramandeep were retained for Rs. 4 crore each. In total,
KKR's expenditure on retentions amounted to Rs. 57 crore.
KKR's purse, though, was deducted by Rs. 69 crore from their original Rs. 120 crore. The IPL rules stipulate specific deduction amounts for retained players, including Rs. 18 crore for the first and fourth capped players, Rs. 14 crore for the second capped player, Rs. 11 crore for the third capped player, and Rs. 4 crore each for the two uncapped players.
Consequently, KKR will enter the auction with Rs. 51 crore remaining in their budget, despite having spent only Rs. 57 crore on player retentions.
