NEW DELHI: As
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their
IPL match against Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday, the home side's skipper
Ruturaj Gaikwad joined the company of
Virat Kohli,
Sanju Samson and Hashim Amla to have smashed two or more centuries in a losing cause.
Gaikwad hit his second IPL century, scoring an unbeaten 108 off 60 balls, with 12 fours and three sixes.
Gaikwad also became the only player to score a hundred in a losing cause for CSK.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) Virat Kohli heads the list of scoring 3 hundreds in a losing cause. Kohli is followed by Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson, and former Punjab Kings batter Hashim Amla who scored two centuries in a losing cause.
Gaikwad became the first-ever CSK skipper to score a century. His 108 not out off 60 balls was the cornerstone of CSK's solid 210-4 in 20 overs.
Gaikwad also became a member of the exclusive group of CSK players, which also includes
Shane Watson and Murali Vijay, who have each scored two hundreds for the team in the IPL. For CSK, Michael Hussey, Brendon McCullum,
Suresh Raina, and Ambati Rayadu have all scored a century each.
