NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals' bowling coach James Hopes expressed his team's eagerness to commence their home stretch against the formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad, whom he likened to a "freight train."
After a few early setbacks in the ongoing IPL, Delhi Capitals aim for a resurgent run. Their recent victory over Gujarat Titans, bowling them out for a mere 89 runs, has boosted their confidence.
With three consecutive home games on the horizon, starting with the clash against SRH on Saturday, Delhi Capitals have an opportunity to regain momentum.
SRH have been in blistering form, twice setting record-breaking IPL totals this season, including the highest-ever score of 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their previous match.
Hopes acknowledged SRH's prowess, stating, "We're running into the freight train next game, which is SRH. We've already started preparing for that. So we're hopeful if we have a good week and a half we would be top-four."
Hopes praised Delhi Capitals' skipper Rishabh Pant, whose batting and leadership have been impressive. He highlighted Pant's improvement as a keeper, captain, and batsman, describing him as "rounding in some pretty good form at back half of the tournament."
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans' batter David Miller defended their captain Shubman Gill, who had a rare off-day against Delhi Capitals. Miller dismissed concerns about the captaincy burden affecting Gill, citing his impressive run tally of 267 runs from seven games.
