CHENNAI: A day after Chennai Super Kings bowling coach

L Balaji

tested Covid-19 positive, the side's batting coach Michael Hussey too contracted the dreaded virus. Hussey's test reports came on Tuesday.

However, Hussey's tests are being redone and the CSK management is hoping that he will test negative like the way their CEO

Kasi Viswanathan

did on Monday. "Hussey tested positive. But his samples are being redone. Hopefully, the report will come negative," a source said.

On Monday,

Balaji

and another staff member tested positive for the virus. The team's CEO Kasi Viswanathan's initial report had come positive too before another test report emerged negative. Balaji and the other member have been isolated from the rest of the squad.

CSK had last played against Mumbai Indians on May 1.

In the wake of several players and support staff testing positive for Covid-19, the IPL was postponed indefinitely by the BCCI on Tuesday. "The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPL GC) and

Board of Control for Cricket

in India (BCCI) in an emergency meeting has unanimously decided to postpone IPL 2021 season, with immediate effect," BCCI said in a release.

"The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL. This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and well-being of all the stakeholders in mind."

BCCI said it will do 'everything in its powers to arrange for the secure and safe passage of all the participants in IPL 2021'.
