Chennai Super Kings faced their largest home defeat in IPL history against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, losing by 50 runs. RCB ended their Chepauk winless streak since 2008. CSK's previous biggest home loss was by 46 runs against Mumbai Indians in 2019.

Chennai Super Kings recorded their biggest home defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday. The 50-run margin of defeat is the biggest loss for the five-time champions in their storied IPl history. Their previous biggest home disappointment had come six years ago [in 2019], going down to Mumbai Indians by 46 runs.
It is also CSK's third biggest loss ever - behind a 60-run loss against Mumbai Indians in 2013 and 54-run loss vs Punjab Kings in 2022.

With the convincing win, RCB also ended their 17-year run of defeats in Chennai against CSK. Bengaluru hadn't won at Chepauk since 2008, that spell came to an end on Friday.

CSK in IPL 2025: Sixth title loading for Chennai Super Kings?

Batting first, RCB scored 196/7 with Rajat Patidar playing a captain's knock of 51 from 32 balls with valuable contributions from Phil Salt (32) and Virat Kohli (31).
For CSK, except Rachin Ravindra (41 from 31 balls), none of the batters could make a serious impact in the game. The margin of defeat could have been bigger but for Shivam Dube (19), Ravindra Jadeja (25) and MS Dhoni (30*) who minimised the net run rate impact.
