CHENNAI: Seven Tamil Nadu cricketers are set to travel with the
Chennai Super Kings squad to UAE as net bowlers ahead of the
IPL 13 season. The three-week pre-season camp in Dubai will see the likes of
Aswin Crist, M Mohammed, L Vignesh, J Kousik, Abhishek Tanwar, Aushik Srinivas and Mohan Abhinav helping CSK batsmen train for the season.
The pacers in the list are Aswin, Mohammed, Vignesh, Kousik and Abhishek, while the slow-ball bowlers include - left-arm spinner Aushik and leggie Abhinav. "So far, we have short-listed 7 TN players. Barring leg-spinner Abhinav (who has only played a List A game for TN), others have represented TN in Ranji Trophy. We wanted to ensure that CSK players received the best possible bowlers at the nets," said sources close to the development.
These 7 players are set to undergo Covid-19 tests on Wednesday. They will be in action during the CSK practice camp which starts at the MA Chidambaram Stadium from August 15. It is learnt that CSK management is looking to add 2-3 more names to this list. "We are keen to have a few extra players and will shortlist them during the course of the CSK camp to be held from August 15 to 20," the source said.
Will the net bowlers continue to remain with the team once the season commences on September 19? "We aren't sure of it at the moment.
For now, these players will train with CSK during the session in Chennai later this week and during the 3-week pre-season camp in Dubai," said the source.
TN cricketers to restart practice from August 21: TN cricketers will restart their training at Chepauk after the conclusion of CSK camp on August 20. "We have got the necessary go-ahead from the state government to allow state players to train. We will be following all the necessary protocols during training," said a senior TNCA official.
