It has been an up and down season, but we have fought and never gave up. We have match winners, it's a team effort from us, that's a really good sign. We have covered all bases, just need to execute our skills. We would have batted first as well, but now we have to play some good cricket.
We are going to bat first. Typical Chennai wicket, looks good at the moment, don't know how much wear and tear will happen. Back in Mumbai we want to chase, this ground here with a longer boundary, it's better to put up a score. The boys are upbeat about it, we have qualified and we are here. There have been ups and downs, but we have learnt a lot, and learnt what we can do as a team. We are ready for this game. We have one change, Karikeya is out, Shokeen is in.
It's a different pitch than yesterday, the boundaries are contrasting. The off-side boundary is 61 metres, while the leg-side boundary is 70 metres and 77 metres down the ground. The surface used for this game is similar to the one used in the last night's match. The wicket looks abrasive, lots of in it for the spinners. There will be a bit of swing with the new ball, but apart from that it's going to be spin to win. Batting first is a good option on this wicket.
The story of Tilak Varma & Nehal Wadhera will be similar to that of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. After 2 years, people will say this is a superstar team - these two guys are going to play a big role for Mumbai and India in the future.
LSG's batting has clicked despite the absence of Rahul and they qualified for the playoffs rather comfortably with Marcus Stoinis (368 runs, 14 matches) coming to the fore with his big-hitting. Kyle Mayers (361 runs) and Nicholas Pooran (358) have brought the Caribbean flair and been vital cogs in LSG's performance. How they fare at the Chepauk, which has often thrown up slowish pitches, would have a bearing on the outcome of the match. Mayers had batted well in LSG's defeat to CSK early in the league phase before the wheels came off. If he can get the team off to a quick start that would be half the job done. His fellow West Indian Pooran would have a bigger role to play in the middle-order and given that he has been in good form he would fancy his chances. (Photo credit: LSG Twitter)
