N Saini to S Narine, Another swing and a miss! A back of a length ball on middle and some away movement, Narine looks to pull but the ball moves away and he fails to connect.
N Saini to S Narine, Short of a length outside off, Narine swings but misses the ball.
N Saini to S Narine, FOUR! Smashed right back through the line. A length ball outside off, Narine rocks back and goes through with the smash that looked like a tennis ball shot. The ball pings back past mid off.
Shubman Gill is the new batsman and it will be Navdeep Saini to operate from the other end.
D Steyn to C Lynn, OUT! The drop does not cost much! Lynn departs on the next ball he faces! An outswinger outside off and slightly fuller this time, Lynn pushes at it without foot movement. The ball pings off the bat and lobs to mid off. Virat Kohli there takes a simple catch. He is pumped up and so is Steyn! Dream start for him and his team. 6 runs and a wicket off this over.
D Steyn to S Narine, Pushed to point off the back foot. Negi there reaches the ball and throws it immediately but misses his shy at the bowler's end. Quick single completed.
D Steyn to S Narine, Narine shoulders arms to let that one through outside off.
D Steyn to S Narine, FOUR LEG BYES! Strays onto the pads this time, Narine misses his flick and the ball goes off the pads and fine enough on the leg side to find the fence.
D Steyn to S Narine, Perfect ball outside off to the southpaw this time. Narine lets the ball go.
D Steyn to C Lynn, DROPPED! First ball drop! How huge could that be? An away swinger, the perfect one from Steyn. On a length and takes the edge of Lynn as he tries to push at it tentatively. The ball flies to Stoinis at first slip, who moves to his right but cannot hold on. Could have been the dream start for the new bowler in the team but not to be. The ball goes in and out. A single taken as the ball rolls towards third man.
We are back for the chase. Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine are the two opening batsmen for Kolkata. Dale Steyn has the new ball in hand for Bangalore. 214 to win, will the hosts reach it or will the away side defend it? Let's find out...
Thus, 213 on the board! Now it is up to the away side's bowlers to defend the score. Will Dale Steyn and co. be able to do so? We will find out in just a bit. Don't go too far away...
Moeen Ali is up for a little chat with Kevin Pietersen. On being asked that what Virat Kohli advised him once he missed Chawla's delivery at the beginning, Moeen replies that Kohli just told him to watch out for his googly. Reckons that they have to bowl well with the new ball. Admits it's going to be tough against Kolkata's batting. Praises Kohli's knock and calls him an amazing player.
After the dismissal of Moeen though, Kohli took charge and found the boundaries. Stoinis who came in next played a quick cameo too and ensured that Bangalore got to a massive total. Virat ended up with exactly 100 and was dismissed on the last ball of the innings. Coming to the bowling, most of the bowlers were taken for runs but Prasidh Krishna was pretty impressive with the pace he generated. Russell too was decent in the 3 overs he bowled. Kuldeep Yadav was taken apart and even looked really dejected and teary-eyed at one point in the game.
After being put into bat, Bangalore were off to a slow start, playing and missing quite a few deliveries at the beginning. Parthiv Patel departed early and was replaced by Akshdeep Nath who could not do much either. Then came Moeen Ali and suddenly, Kohli who was at the other end all along and not looking so fluent, started middling things. Moeen Ali went crazy as he put the ball over the fence at will and was especially stern towards Kuldeep, who went for 59 in his four overs including 27 in one. Such was the dominance of Ali that he went past Kohli and when he was dismissed for 66, the Bangalore skipper was well behind.
Some finish that! Bangalore have surely given themselves a chance at winning tonight at the end of the first half by posting a 210-plus total! 115 runs in the last seven overs! The architect of this innings was mainly Virat Kohli, who reached 3 figures but was ably supported by Moeen Ali, Marcus Stoinis who played vital knocks to help the visitors to this kind of a total.
H Gurney to V Kohli, OUT! A wicket off the last ball! Gurney delivers it full and on middle and leg at 126 kph, Kohli heaves it across the line but gets more height than distance on his shot. Shubman Gill at deep mid-wicket makes no mistake. Anyway, Bangalore end on 213/4!
H Gurney to V Kohli, FOUR! HUNDRED FOR VIRAT KOHLI! What an innings! Stand up and applaud the genius of this man. His fifth 100 in the Indian T20 League. A low full toss on middle, Kohli flicks this away through mid-wicket and finds the gap. Kuldeep runs in the deep to his left and tries to stop it with a dive but fails to do so. That takes Kohli to exactly 100! A well-planned knock by the skipper.
H Gurney to M Stoinis, Aerial but safe! Width on offer outside off, Stoinis clears his front leg for a big heave but it takes the outside half and falls safely at deep extra cover. There is two on offer but Kohli sends his partner back. Virat on 96!
H Gurney to M Stoinis, SIX! Huge and into the crowd! A slower ball and lands in the half-volley region, Stoinis picks that one and lifts it way over long on. The ball came bang out of the middle of the bat.
