IND vs WI: Gautam Gambhir to host Shubman Gill and Co for dinner at his Delhi residence before second Test

Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir plans to host the team for dinner at his residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, ahead of their second Test match against West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium starting October 10. According to ANI, the dinner is intended to be held in the garden area, weather permitting, as India leads the two-match series 1-0.

India secured a commanding victory in the first Test at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, winning by an innings and 140 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten century and four-wicket haul.

West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first but struggled against India's bowling attack. They managed only 162 runs in 44.1 overs, with Roston Chase and skipper Hope's 48-run partnership being their highest stand.

Mohammed Siraj led the Indian bowling attack with figures of 4/40, supported by Jasprit Bumrah's 3/42. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Sundar also contributed with wickets.

India's batting performance was dominant, declaring at 448/5 with a substantial lead of 286 runs. KL Rahul scored 100 runs, while Dhruv Jurel made 125, and Jadeja remained unbeaten on 104.

The West Indies' second innings showed little improvement as they were dismissed for 146 runs. Alick Athanaze (38) and Justin Greaves (25) were the top scorers, but they couldn't prevent the inevitable defeat.


Jadeja continued his outstanding performance with 4/54 in the second innings, while Siraj picked up 3/31 and Kuldeep Yadav took 2/23.

India's position in the ICC World Test Championship remains strong, currently standing third with three wins, one draw, and two losses. The team has reached the WTC finals twice previously.
